Carol Schram: Canucks get close, but not close enough, as they fall to the Sens in Ottawa The road to the playoffs got a little tougher for the Vancouver Canucks on Monday, as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Ottawa Senators and Thatcher Demko was injured at the morning skate.

Thanks Carol

I agree about the strange timing on the DiPietro move. It seems just so odd considering that if the Canucks lose another couple games their playoff hopes will be dead and there would be time to get him in some games. I like Silovs, but here's hoping we don't see him forced to play this year.

Strange timing for sure Carol.

Can't say i'm shocked this organization made a bad decision though.

Ironically Covid may have saved the Canucks from handing out more bad FA deals.

Thanks Carol, maybe the decision to send DiPi down was to protect him from what could be another SJ like outing?

I agree though, I’d confusing to keep a guy out of action all year only to send him down when you might actually need him most.

You missed my waiver humor as well. Corrado wasn’t enough, did I need a ?

That helped but in my opinion it was his previous cap management.

For sure. Just saying he might have squeezed in another bad deal.

Credit where it’s due: Benning has navigated the Expansion Drafts brilliantly. The Canucks were in no danger of losing an impactful player to Vegas and this next one is shaping up to be just as masterful as the first. Maybe even better; the Canucks will have protection slots to spare.

Sure, teams like Tampa and Colorado are contenders, but if they’d just taken a step back for a decade and given out a ton of unpalatable contracts they’d be as well positioned as the Canucks are. Slow clap Benning.

From Elliots 31 thoughts.

19. Teams were given two schedule options for the 2020–21 season. The Canadian Division will be a one-year wonder, as we revert to the previous set-up.

Option I: Home-and-home with the opposing conference (32 games); three versus the other division in your conference (24 games); 26 in your division (four against five of the other teams, three against the other two). That leads to the previous playoff format, as well.

Option II: Home-and-home with the other three divisions (48 games); four versus each divisional opponent (28 games); leaving room for six “special” games, such as historical or geographical rivals. For example, we could ask for more Toronto/Vancouver — starting at 4:00 p.m. Pacific, of course. Those would likely be divisional playoffs.

I don't know how many times exactly it was, Edler had fallen over or been knocked over. 10 times I would say. He looked terrible last night.

He was at least as important if not more to their playoff success last year as Sutter...
